Malachi 3:6 “For I am the Lord, I do not change; Therefore you are not consumed,
O sons of Jacob.
Malachi 3:7 Yet from the days of your fathers You have gone away from My
ordinances And have not kept them. Return to Me, and I will return to you,” Says
the Lord of hosts. “But you said, ‘In what way shall we return?’
Malachi 3:8 “Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed Me! But you say, ‘In what
way have we robbed You?’ In tithes and offerings.
Malachi 3:9 You are cursed with a curse, For you have robbed Me, Even this whole
nation.
Malachi 3:10 Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in
My house, And try Me now in this,” Says the Lord of hosts, “If I will not open for
you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not
be room enough to receive it.
Malachi 3:11 “And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, So that he will not
destroy the fruit of your ground, Nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in
the field,” Says the Lord of hosts;
Malachi 3:12 “And all nations will call you blessed, For you will be a delightful land,”

1 Corinthians 5:7 “… What do you have that God hasn’t given you? And if everything
you have is from God, why boast as though it were not a gift?

Jesus spent 25% of his teaching on stewardship.
Stewardship is how we manage the resources that belong to God that He gives us
God is the owner, and that we are the manager.

I. If We Don’t Give To God, We Steal From God.
Malachi 3:8 “Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed Me!
Malachi 3:8 “… But you say, ‘In what way have we robbed You?’ In tithes
and offerings.
We have two pockets, a tithe is a ten percent reminder that everything belongs to God
An offering is the amount you give over and above your tithe.
Genesis 28:22 And this stone which I have set as a pillar shall be God’s house,
and of all that You give me I will surely give a tenth to You.
Luke 11:42 “But woe to you Pharisees! For you tithe mint and rue and all manner
of herbs, and pass by justice and the love of God. These you ought to have done,
without leaving the others undone.
II. If We Don’t Give To God, We Curse Ourself.
Malachi 3:9 You are cursed with a curse, For you have robbed Me, Even this whole
nation.
“Everytime someone reaches for my billfold, my mouth flies open.”
Malachi 3:10 Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in
My house, And try Me now in this,” Says the Lord of hosts, “If I will not open for
you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not
be room enough to receive it.
All the blessings of life come down from heaven.
James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes
down from the Father of lights …
III. If We Don’t Give To God, We Rob Ourself.
Malachi 3:11 “And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, So that he will not
destroy the fruit of your ground, Nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in
the field,” Says the Lord of hosts;
Malachi 3:12 “And all nations will call you blessed, For you will be a delightful land,”
Says the Lord of hosts.
Haggai 1:6 (NLT) “… Your wages disappear as though you were putting them in
pockets filled with holes!
IV. If We Don’t Give To God, We Are Not Rich Toward God.
Luke 12:15 And He said to them, “Take heed and beware of covetousness, for
one’s life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses.”
Luke 12:16 Then He spoke a parable to them, saying: “The ground of a certain
rich man yielded plentifully.
Luke 12:17 And he thought within himself, saying, ‘What shall I do, since I have
no room to store my crops?’
Luke 12:18 So he said, ‘I will do this: I will pull down my barns and build greater,
and there I will store all my crops and my goods.
Luke 12:19 And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have many goods laid up for many
years; take your ease; eat, drink, and be merry.” ’
Luke 12:20 But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul will be required of you;
then whose will those things be which you have provided?’
Luke 12:21 “So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.”
Luke 12:21 “Yes, a person is a fool to store up earthly wealth but not have a rich
relationship with God.”

Matthew 6:20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven …
Luke 16:9 (NLT) Here’s the lesson: Use your worldly resources to benefit others
and make friends. Then, when your possessions are gone, they will welcome you
to an eternal home.
