Pastor Ed emphasizes the contrast between the fate of the wicked and the righteous on this day, using vivid imagery of fire and healing. He discusses God’s judgment on the proud and wicked, while also highlighting the hope and restoration for those who fear God’s name. The sermon incorporates various biblical references beyond Malachi, including Psalms, Romans, and New Testament passages, to reinforce its points. Additionally, Pastor Ed touches on contemporary issues, such as changes in school disciplinary problems over time, to provide context and relevance to his audience.

Malachi 4:1 “For behold, the day is coming, Burning like an oven, And all the proud,
yes, all who do wickedly will be stubble. And the day which is coming shall burn
them up,” Says the Lord of hosts, “That will leave them neither root nor branch.
Malachi 4:2 But to you who fear My name The Sun of Righteousness shall arise
With healing in His wings; And you shall go out And grow fat like stall-fed calves.
Malachi 4:3 You shall trample the wicked, For they shall be ashes under the soles
of your feet On the day that I do this,” Says the Lord of hosts.
Malachi 4:4 “Remember the Law of Moses, My servant, Which I commanded him
in Horeb for all Israel, With the statutes and judgments.
Malachi 4:5 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet Before the coming of the
great and dreadful day of the Lord.
Malachi 4:6 And he will turn The hearts of the fathers to the children, And the
hearts of the children to their fathers, Lest I come and strike the earth with
a curse.”
The Supreme court offered this justification and quoted a psychologist who stated:
“If portions of the New Testament were read without explanation, they could be and
had been psychologically harmful to the child.”
Sixty years ago, the top disciplinary problems in schools were:
Talking in class, chewing gum, making noises, running in the halls, cutting in line
That was then, this is now
Disrespect – students speak and act in a disrespectful way to adults and peers
including verbal abuse of teachers and faculty
Defiance – students openly refusing to listen to adults or follow directions.
Bullying – students consistently trying to intimidate others,
Widespread disorder in classroom, cyberbulling & school shooting possibilities.”
I. WHAT A FIERY DAY OF BURNING THAT WILL BE.

you are storing up terrible punishment for yourself. For a day of anger is coming,
when God’s righteous judgment will be revealed.

Malachi 4:1 “For behold, the day is coming, burning like an oven,…
Psalm 21:9 You shall make them as a fiery oven in the time of Your anger;
Isaiah 47:14 Behold, they shall be as stubble, the fire shall burn them; They shall
not deliver themselves from the power of the flame; It shall not be a coal to be
warmed by, nor a fire to sit before!

hosts, That will leave them neither root nor branch.
Zephaniah 1:18 Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them
in the day of the Lord’s wrath; But the whole land shall be devoured by the fire
of His jealousy, for He will make speedy riddance of all those who dwell in the land.
Hebrews 10:30 For we know Him who said, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,”
says the Lord. And again, “The Lord will judge His people.”

fear the Lord
Malachi 4:2 ” …my name The Sun of Righteousness shall arise
John 1:4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.
Acts 17:28 For in Him we live and move and have our being …”
John 1:5 And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
John 3:19 And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world,
and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
John 3:20 For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light,
lest his deeds should be exposed.
John 3:21 But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly
seen, that they have been done in God.”
Malachi 4:2 ” …my name The Sun of Righteousness shall arise with healing in His
wings, …

Malachi 3:8 “Will a man rob God? But you say, “In what way have we robbed You?
Malachi 3:13 “… What have we spoken against You?’

Malachi 1:1 The burden of the word of the Lord to Israel by Malachi.
Malachi 3:1 “Behold, I send My messenger, …
Galatians 6:2 Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.
Mark 2:3 Then they came to Him, bringing a paralytic who was carried by four men.
Mark 2:4 And when they could not come near Him because of the crowd, they uncovered
the roof where He was. So when they had broken through, they let down the bed on
which the paralytic was lying.
Mark 2:5 When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins
are forgiven you.”
Didn’t someone believe for you before you believed?
Didn’t someone pray for us before we knew to pray for ourselves?
Every person’s salvation begins with the burden, interest and influence of another.
II. GOD’S LOVE ANNOUNCED.
Malachi 1:2 “I have loved you,” says the Lord.”
Malachi 1:6 “A son honors his father, and a servant his master. If then I am the Father,

Catergory #1. We Must Take The Good With The Bad.
Job 2:10 (NLT) Should we accept only good things from the hand of God and never
anything bad?”
Catergory #2. Right Place, Right Time, Wrong Place, Wrong Time.
Ecclesiastes 9:11 I returned and saw under the sun that–
The race is not to the swift,
Nor the battle to the strong,
Nor bread to the wise,
Nor riches to men of understanding,
Nor favor to men of skill;
But time and chance happen to them all.
Catergory #3. Be Ready: It Could Happen To You.
Luke 13:4 (NLT) And what about the eighteen people who died when the tower in
Siloam fell on them? Were they the worst sinners in Jerusalem?
Luke 13:5 No, and I tell you again that unless you repent, you will perish, too.”
Catergory #4. Don’t Worry, It’s None Of Your Business.
John 21:18 “I tell you the truth, when you were young, you were able to do as you
liked; you dressed yourself and went wherever you wanted to go.
But when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and others will dress you and
take you where you don’t want to go.”
John 21:19 Jesus said this to let him know by what kind of death he would glorify
God. Then Jesus told him, “Follow me.”
John 21:20 Peter turned around and saw behind them the disciple Jesus loved—
the one who had leaned over to Jesus during supper and asked, “Lord, who will
betray you?”
John 21:21 Peter asked Jesus, “What about him, Lord?”
John 21:22 Jesus replied, “If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to
you? As for you, follow me.
Catergory #5. God Is Not Obligated To Explain Himself To Us.
Proverbs 25:2 “It is the glory of God to conceal a matter…”
Isaiah 45:15 ” Truly you are a God who hides Himself.”
Isaiah 55:8 “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,”
says the Lord.
Isaiah 55:9 “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher
than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.
Romans 11:33 “… How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!

Psalm 139:3 “… You know everything I do.”
Psalm 139:4 You know what I am going to say even before I say it, Lord.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that
whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
Zephaniah 3:17 The Lord your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save
He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love
He will rejoice over you with singing.”
This sermon explores fatherhood from a biblical perspective, emphasizing that fatherhood is a divine calling and an integral part of God’s kingdom work. The sermon is supported by a variety of biblical references and personal reflection questions to help the congregation examine their relationships with their fathers and understand the role of fathers in God’s plan.

John 1:12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become
children of God, to those who believe in His name:
John 1:13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of
man, but of God.
Romans 8:16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children
of God,
2 Corinthians 6:18 “I will be a Father to you, And you shall be My sons and daughters,

Matthew 6:9 In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven,
Dad daddy, dada, pa, papa, pop, poppa, poppy old man, old boy, old guy
origin, ancestor, parent, predecessor, patriarch, progenitor, forebearer, procreator
Begetter, sire, source
So, how would you describe your father?
* Was he soft and gentle or harsh and demanding?
* Was he there for you when you needed him, or was he always on the go and
away from the home a lot of the time?
* Was he affectionate and demonstrative, or did he keep his distance?
* Was he emotionally transparent and easy to read, or was he Stoic and reserved,
keeping his feelings to himself?
* Was he an outdoorsman or a homebody?
* Did he read to you when you were little and play with you as you were growing up?
* Did he teach you to do things? What sort of practical skills did you learn from
your father?
* Was he a good listener? Could you share your thoughts and feelings with him
without getting a lecture in return?
* Was he a man of faith? Did he share his faith with you and help you to experience
the peace of God’s presence and the power of God’s love?
* Was he authoritative or easy going?
* Was he quick to discipline you and keep you in line, or did he give you freedom
to explore and make your own discoveries … your own decisions … and your own
mistakes?
* If you’re a son, was your father someone you wanted to be like when you grew up?
If you’re a daughter, was your father the type of man you hoped to marry some day?
* What did you love most about your father?
If you had the chance, what words of gratitude and affirmation would you most like
to share with him today if you could?
I. THE FATHER’S LOVE IS A LOVE THAT IS A FAMILY LOVE.

sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
Galatians 3:26 For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.

Lyrics “Abba Father” by Michael Card
Abba Father
Since that word became Your covenant name
Abba Father I cry out to You
Knowing You will hear my plea
For You’ve adopted me
II. THE FATHER’S LOVE IS A LOVE THAT IS BEYOND MEASURE.
1 John 4:16 And we have known and believed the love that God has for us.
God is love ..
Ephesians 3:17 (TLB) May your roots go down deep into the soil of God’s marvelous
love;
Ephesians 3:18 and may you be able to feel and understand, as all God’s children
should, how long, how wide, how deep, and how high his love really is;
Ephesians 3:19 and to experience this love for yourselves, though it is so great
that you will never see the end of it or fully know or understand it. And so at last
you will be filled up with God himself.
Romans 8:38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor
principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come,
Romans 8:39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to
separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Stuart Townsend’s song “How Deep the Father’s Love for Us.”

How vast beyond all measure
That He should give His only Son
To make a wretch His treasure

Pew reports that only 11 percent of American children lived apart from their
dads in 1960 which equates to 1 in every 10 children
Now an estimated 24.7 million children (33%) live absent of their biological father.
So one in every three American children are now growing up in a home without
their biological father.
39 % of students, first through 12th grade, are fatherless.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau:
Only 68% of children will spend their entire childhood with an intact family.
That equates to 1 in every 3 children in the United States not having access
to their father.
III. THE FATHER’S LOVE IS A LOVE THAT IS UNCONDITIONAL.
1 Corinthians 13:4 (NLT) Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful
or proud
1 Corinthians 13:5 or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and
it keeps no record of being wronged.
1 Corinthians 13:6 It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth
wins out.
1 Corinthians 13:7 Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and
endures through every circumstance.
IV. THE FATHER’S LOVE IS A LOVE THAT PAYS ATTENTION.
Psalm 139:1 (NLT) Lord, you have examined my heart and know everything
about me.
Psalm 139:2 You know when I sit down or stand up. You know my thoughts
even when I’m far away.
Psalm 139:3 You see me when I travel and when I rest at home. You know
everything I do.
Psalm 139:4 You know what I am going to say even before I say it, Lord.
Fathers lead, feed, and intercede
1) Leadership- establishing and leading by example a household;
2) Feeding – providing for his family
3) Interceding – praying, protecting and upholding that which he established.
Luke 6:27 “But I say to you who hear: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate
you.
Luke 6:28 bless those who curse you, and pray for those who spitefully use you.
Matthew 5:6 “For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have?
Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were
still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 5:10 For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the
death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.
1 John 4:10 “In this is love, not that we have loved God, but that he loved us.”
2 Corinthians 6:18 “I will be a Father to you, And you shall be My sons and daughters,
Says the Lord Almighty.”
Colossians 3:12 Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender
mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering;
Colossians 3:13 Bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone
has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do.
Colossians 3:14 But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of

Here’s some Mom wisdom for Mother’s Day
* It’s not easy being a Mom. If it were, Dad would do it!
* Moms are the only ones who know the true meaning of 24/7.
* I smile because I’m your mother, but I laugh because there’s nothing I can do
about it.
* We have the perfect mother-daughter relationship. You’re my daughter, and
I’m perfect!
* Mom, on helping the kids with their math homework:
Dear Math, grow up and solve your own problems.
* Silence is golden. Unless you have kids, then silence is suspicious.
* Why is a computer so smart? Because it listens to its motherboard.
* Why is Mother’s Day before Father’s Day? So kids can spend their Christmas
money on Mom.
*I hate when I’m waiting for Mom to cook dinner and then I remember I am the
Mom and I have to cook dinner.
* Nothing is really lost until Mom can’t find it.
* Home is where your mom is.

D.L. Moody used to picture the Lord saying to Peter,
“Hey, Peter, go hunt up the man who put the crown of thorns on my head and
tell him that I love him. Tell him he can have a crown in my kingdom and it doesn’t
have any thorns. Find the man who spat in my face and preach the gospel to him.
Tell him that I forgive him and that I died to save him. And find the man who
thrust the spear into my side and tell him there’s a quicker way to my heart”

Worldwide nearly 800 women a day die due to pregnancy or childbirth.
The Valiant by Poet Mark DeWolf speaks about the risks mothers take:
Not for the star crowned heroes
The men who conquer and slay
But a song for those who bore them
The mothers braver than they
With never a blare of trumpets
With never a surge of cheers
They march to the unseen hazards
pale, patient volunteers.

reasonable service.
The complaint report states:
“The decision to smear Pastor Johnny’s reputation with these accusations has
led him to suffer substantial economic and other damages. He has lost (his) job
