🎄 Christmas Theology 🎄
This Christmas, let’s dive into the profound truths of the nativity story as we explore four powerful themes:
✨ Christian Biology: Marvel at the miraculous conception of Jesus through the Holy Spirit, showing God’s divine power over creation.
✨ Christmas Missiology: Celebrate the good tidings of great joy shared with all people, a reminder of God’s mission to bring salvation to everyone.
✨ Christmas Christology: Reflect on the truth that Jesus, born in the city of David, is the Savior who came to redeem us from sin.
✨ Christmas Doxology: Join the angels in proclaiming “Glory to God in the highest” as we worship the King of Kings, who brings peace and goodwill to all. This message calls us to pause amidst the hustle of the season, to focus on the gift of Christ, and to respond with worship and devotion. Whether you’re a shepherd, a wise man, or someone offering the gift of your heart, let’s glorify God together for the greatest gift ever given: Jesus Christ.

Sermon Notes:
Luke 1:26 Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of
Galilee named Nazareth,
Luke 1:27 to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of
David. The virgin’s name was Mary.
Luke 1:28 And having come in, the angel said to her, “Rejoice, highly favored one,
the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!”
Luke 1:29 But when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and considered
what manner of greeting this was.
Luke 1:30 Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found
favor with God.
Luke 1:31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and
shall call His name Jesus.
Luke 1:32 He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord
God will give Him the throne of His father David.
Luke 1:33 And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom
there will be no end.”
1. CHRISTIAN BIOLOGY.
Luke 1:31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and
shall call His name Jesus.
Luke 1:34 Then Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I do not know a man?”
Luke 1:35 And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon
you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy
One who is to be born will be called the Son of God
Acts 5:15 so that they brought the sick out into the streets and laid them on beds
and couches, that at least the shadow of Peter passing by might fall on some of them.
Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by
sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
2. CHRISTMAS MISSIOLOGY.
Luke 2:6 So it was, that while they were there, the days were completed for her to
be delivered.
Luke 2:7 And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling
cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
Luke 2:8 Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields,
keeping watch over their flock by night.
Luke 2:9 And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the
Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid.
Luke 2:10 Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you
good tidings of great joy which will be to all people.
Good tidings = glad, happy, joyous news = the gospel !
Great joy = over abundance of well being = satisfaction !
All people = to any and all who will listen = to those who receive !
This gospel satisfies all people who receive it.
3. CHRISTMAS CHRISTOLOGY.
Luke 2:11 For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is
Christ the Lord.
We’re all sinners in need of a Savior and that Savior is Jesus.
4. CHRISTMAS DOXOLOGY.
Luke 2:13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host
praising God and saying:
Luke 2:14 “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”
It came upon the midnight clear, that glorious song of old,
From angels bending near the earth to touch their harps of gold
“Peace on the earth, good will to men, from heaven’s all-gracious King.”
The world in solemn stillness lay, to hear the angels sing.
Christmas is no respecter of persons. Everything is level.
1 Corinthians 1:26 For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according
to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called.
1 Corinthians 1:27 But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame
the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things
which are mighty;
1 Corinthians 1:28 and the base things of the world and the things which are despised
God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are,
1 Corinthians 1:29 that no flesh should glory in His presence.
1 Corinthians 1:30 But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom
from God–and righteousness and sanctification and redemption—
1 Corinthians 1:31 that, as it is written, “He who glories, let him glory in the Lord.”
Lyrics “In the bleak midwinter”
What can I give him, poor as I am?
If I were a shepherd, I would bring a lamb,
If I were a wise man I would do my part,
Yet what I can I give him, give him my heart.
