1 Corinthians 15:35 But someone will say, “How are the dead raised up? And with
what body do they come?
1 Corinthians 15:42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. The body is sown in
corruption, it is raised in incorruption.
1 Corinthians 15:43 It is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness,
it is raised in power.
1 Corinthians 15:44 It is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. There is
a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.

Olivia Newton-John quote:
“It’s almost like we are parts of a big computer and we go back to the main battery.
I don’t have a definite definition of what it is. Some people call it ‘heaven.’ Some
call it ‘the universe.’ I just think there is a great knowingness out there that we
become part of.”

I. THE APPOINTMENT WITH DEATH
Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed for men to die once,…

II. THE JUDGMENT THAT’S SETTLED
Hebrews 9:27 ” And as it is appointed for men to die once but after this the judgment,”

John 3:18 “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe
is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten
Son of God.

Someone has well said,”The time is coming for all men when they will be either be
born again or wish they had never been born at all.”

Death never changes anything, it only makes permanent what we were in life.

Before it’s all said and done the Christian will occupy three body types in essence
1. Our earthly body.(The physical body in this life).
2. Our heavenly intermediate body. (Our heavenly body until the resurrection)
3. Our eternal glorified resurrection body (Like Jesus)

III. THE ESTABLISHMENT OF HEAVENLY BODIES.

Luke 9:28 Now it came to pass, about eight days after these sayings, that He took
Peter, John, and James and went up on the mountain to pray.
Luke 9:29 As He prayed, the appearance of His face was altered, and His robe
became white and glistening.
Luke 9:30 And behold, two men talked with Him, who were Moses and Elijah,
Luke 9:31 who appeared in glory …

Luke 9:31 who appeared in glory and spoke of His decease which He was about
to accomplish at Jerusalem.

Luke 9:32 But Peter and those with him were heavy with sleep; and when they
were fully awake, they saw His glory and the two men who stood with Him.
Luke 9:33 Then it happened, as they were parting from Him, that Peter said to
Jesus, “Master, it is good for us to be here; and let us make three tabernacles:
one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah”—not knowing what he said.

Matthew 16:17 Jesus answered and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah,
for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.

Luke 9:34 While he was saying this, a cloud came and overshadowed them; and
they were fearful as they entered the cloud.
Luke 9:35 And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is My beloved Son.
Hear Him!”
Luke 9:36 When the voice had ceased, Jesus was found alone. But they kept quiet,
and told no one in those days any of the things they had seen.

1) Do heaven’s inhabitants remember life on earth?
2) Do people in heaven see what is happening on earth?
Revelation 6:9 When He opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of
those who had been slain for the word of God and for the testimony which they held.
Revelation 6:10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, “How long, O Lord, holy
and true, until You judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?”
Revelation 6:11 Then a white robe was given to each of them; and it was said to
them that they should rest a little while longer, until both the number of their
fellow servants and their brethren, who would be killed as they were, was
completed.

Revelation 18:20 “Rejoice over her, O heaven, and you holy apostles and prophets, for
God has avenged you on her!”

Revelation 19:1 After these things I heard a loud voice of a great multitude in
heaven, saying, “Alleluia! Salvation and glory and honor and power belong to
the Lord our God!
Revelation 19:2 For true and righteous are His judgments, because He has judged
the great harlot who corrupted the earth with her fornication; and He has avenged
on her the blood of His servants shed by her.”

1 Corinthians 15:20 But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the
firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.
1 Corinthians 15:21 For since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection
of the dead.
1 Corinthians 15:22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive.
1 Corinthians 15:23 But each one in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, afterward
those who are Christ’s at His coming.
John 14:19 “… Because I live, you will live also.”

IV. THE FULFILLMENT OF THE ETERNAL STATE.
1 Thessalonians 4:13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning
them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
1 Thessalonians 4:14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them
also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

1 Thessalonians 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout,
with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ
shall rise first:
1 Thessalonians 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together
with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

1 Thessalonians 4:18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

1 Corinthians 15:51 Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we
shall all be changed—
1 Corinthians 15:52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet.
For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall
be changed.

Paul describes the glorified resurrected eternal body transformation this way:
1 Corinthians 15:35 But someone will say, “How are the dead raised up? And with
what body do they come?
1 Corinthians 15:42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. The body is sown in
corruption, it is raised in incorruption.
1 Corinthians 15:43 It is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness,
it is raised in power.
1 Corinthians 15:44 It is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. There is
a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.

A resurrection for the saved and a resurrection for the damned.
Daniel 12:2 And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake,
Some to everlasting life, Some to shame and everlasting contempt.
Acts 24:15 “… there will be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and the unjust.
John 5:28 Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the
graves will hear His voice
John 5:29 And come forth–those who have done good, to the resurrection of life,
and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation.

The rapture of the church and the resurrection of the saved is a rescue operation.
The church is snatched away from the wrath of God to come.

2 Corinthians 5:11 “Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men.”
