I Heard It Through The True Vine

I Heard It Through The True Vine

John 15:1 “I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser.
John 15:2 Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every
branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.
John 15:3 You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.
John 15:4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself,
unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.
John 15:5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him,
bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.
John 15:6 If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered;
and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.
John 15:7 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you
desire, and it shall be done for you.
John 15:8 By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be
My disciples.

I. IF WE ABIDE IN THE VINE WE WILL STAY FAITHFUL IN THE WORD.
John 15:7 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you …

Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

II. IF WE ABIDE IN THE VINE WE WILL STAY FAITHFUL IN PRAYER.
John 15:7 “… You will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.
John 15:16 “… that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.”

Prayer is how we talk to God and the Word of God is how God talks to us.

III. IF WE ABIDE IN THE VINE WE WILL STAY FAITHFUL IN WORSHIP.
John 15:5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him,
bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.

Hebrews 13:15 Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise
to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.

Spiritually, Jesus is our food, our daily bread
John 6:57 “…so he who feeds on Me will live because of Me.”
Jesus is our water, He’s our fountain of living water
John 4:14 “…the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water
springing up into everlasting life.”
Jesus is our air — His Spirit is the breath of our souls.
Acts 17:25 “… He Himself gives to all people life and breath and all things;

John 1:3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made
that was made.

Psalm 145:3 (NIV) Great is the LORD and most worthy of praise;

What is worship?
Worship is saying back to God what is true about Him as revealed by Him

Ephesians 5:19 speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs,
singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord,

IV. IF WE ABIDE IN THE VINE WE WILL STAY FAITHFUL IN FRUIT-BEARING.
John 15:2 ” … And every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear
more fruit.
John 15:8 By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be
My disciples.

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any
two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints
and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

1). We must allow the Lord to repair the hurts of the past.
2). Bitterness must be cut out.
3). Un-forgiveness must be trimmed off the branch.

2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for
doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,

V. IF WE DON’T ABIDE IN THE VINE WE WILL NOT STAY FAITHFUL.
John 15:2 Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away;
John 15:6 If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered;
and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.

John 1:4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.

Matthew 7:20 Therefore by their fruits you will know them.
Matthew 7:21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the
kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.
Matthew 7:22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied
in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’
Matthew 7:23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me,
you who practice lawlessness!’

1 John 2:19 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been
of us, they would have continued with us; but they went out that they might be
made manifest, that none of them were of us.

Quote:

Him, to be always leaning on Him, resting on Him, pouring out our hearts to Him,
and using Him as our Fountain of life and strength, as our chief Companion and
best Friend. ”

John 14:23 Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep
My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make

bears much fruit;”

branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.

A fruitful tree is made to nourish others, to be a blessing to others.
A fruit tree exists to nourish others which is ministry.

5. THE FRUIT THE BRANCH CAN PRODUCE THROUGH THE VINE.
John 15:2 ” … does not bear fruit He takes away …”

John 15:10 If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I
have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.

Write each man’s name on his rod.
Numbers 17:3 And you shall write Aaron’s name on the rod of Levi. For there

the Testimony, where I meet with you.
Numbers 17:5 And it shall be that the rod of the man whom I choose will blossom;
thus I will rid Myself of the complaints of the children of Israel, which they make
against you.”

Moses And The Rod Of God

Sermon Notes & Outline

“Moses And The Rod Of God”

Psalm 23:4 ” … Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Ecclesiastes 3:5 A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together;

I. THE ROD OF GOD AND THE SNAKE.
Exodus 4:1 Then Moses answered and said, “But suppose they will not believe
me or listen to my voice; suppose they say, ‘The Lord has not appeared to you.’ ”
Exodus 4:2 So the Lord said to him, “What is that in your hand?” He said, “A rod.”

Phillip Keller, having been a shepherd himself, wrote,
The rod was, in fact, an extension of the owners own right arm. It stood as a
symbol of strength, power, and his authority in any serious situation. The rod
was what he relied on to safeguard both his flock and himself in danger.”

Exodus 4:3 And He said, “Cast it on the ground.” So he cast it on the ground,
and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from it.

What God was showing Moses was this. Moses, there is a flesh principle in you,
Romans 7:18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells;

The Christian life is our response to His ability.
Galatians 2:20 “… the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of
God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.

Exodus 4:4 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Reach out your hand and take it by
the tail” (and he reached out his hand and caught it, and it became a rod in his
hand),

Acts 4:32 Now the multitude of those who believed were of one heart and one soul;
neither did anyone say that any of the things he possessed was his own,
but they had all things in common.

II. THE ROD OF GOD AND THE DEVIL’S MAGI.
Exodus 7:8 Then the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying,
Exodus 7:9 “When Pharaoh speaks to you, saying, ‘Show a miracle for yourselves,’
then you shall say to Aaron, ‘Take your rod and cast it before Pharaoh, and
let it become a serpent.’ ”
Exodus 7:10 So Moses and Aaron went in to Pharaoh, and they did so,
just as the Lord commanded. And Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh
and before his servants, and it became a serpent.
Exodus 7:11 But Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers; so
the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their enchantments.
Exodus 7:12 For every man threw down his rod, and they became serpents.
But Aaron’s rod swallowed up their rods.

2 Thessalonians 2:9 The coming of the lawless one is according to the working
of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders,

III. THE ROD OF GOD AND THE PLAGUES.
Exodus 7:17 Thus says the Lord: “By this you shall know that I am the Lord.
Behold, I will strike the waters which are in the river with the rod that is in my
hand, and they shall be turned to blood.
Exodus 8: 5 Then the Lord spoke to Moses,”Say to Aaron, ‘Stretch out your hand
with your rod over the streams, over the rivers, and over the ponds, and cause
frogs to come up on the land of Egypt.’”
Exodus 8:16 So the Lord said to Moses, “Say to Aaron, ‘Stretch out your rod, and
strike the dust of the land, so that it may become lice throughout all the land
of Egypt.’ ”
Exodus 9:23 And Moses stretched out his rod toward heaven; and the Lord
sent thunder and hail, and fire darted to the ground. And the Lord rained hail
on the land of Egypt.
Exodus 10:13 So Moses stretched out his rod over the land of Egypt, and the Lord
brought an east wind on the land all that day and all that night. When it was morning,
the east wind brought the locusts.

IV. THE ROD OF GOD AND THE RED SEA.
Exodus 14:16 But lift up your rod, and stretch out your hand over the sea and
divide it. And the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of
the sea.

V. THE ROD OF GOD AND THE ROCK IN HOREB.
Exodus 17:1 Then all the congregation of the children of Israel set out on their
journey from the Wilderness of Sin, according to the commandment of the
Lord, and camped in Rephidim; but there was no water for the people to drink.
Exodus 17:2 Therefore the people contended with Moses, and said, “Give us
water, that we may drink.” So Moses said to them, “Why do you contend with me?
Why do you tempt the Lord?”
Exodus 17:3 And the people thirsted there for water, and the people complained
against Moses, and said, “Why is it you have brought us up out of Egypt, to kill us
and our children and our livestock with thirst?”
Exodus 17:4 So Moses cried out to the Lord, saying, “What shall I do with this people?
They are almost ready to stone me!”
Exodus 17:5 And the Lord said to Moses, “Go on before the people, and take
with you some of the elders of Israel. Also take in your hand your rod with
which you struck the river, and go.
Exodus 17:6 Behold, I will stand before you there on the rock in Horeb; and you
shall strike the rock, and water will come out of it, that the people may drink.”
And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.

John 4:13 Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst
again,
John 4:14 But whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst.
But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing
up into everlasting life.”

God can hit a straight lick with a crooked stick.

Isaiah 40:4 Every valley shall be exalted and every mountain and hill brought low;
The crooked places shall be made straight and the rough places smooth;
Isaiah 42:16 I will bring the blind by a way they did not know; I will lead them in
paths they have not known. I will make darkness light before them, and crooked
places straight. These things I will do for them, and not forsake them.
Isaiah 45:2 ‘I will go before you and make the crooked places straight;
